Steven Skinner

After receiving his DVM from Washington State University, Dr. Skinner did a one-year internship in medicine and surgery at U.C. Davis in California. He followed that with a three-year residency in human neurology and neurosurgery at Oregon Health Sciences University medical school in Portland. From 1973 to 1975, Dr. Skinner served as the first Director of Staff doctor at DoveLewis. He left DoveLewis for general practice and to complete his residency program until 1977. He received his board certification in Neurology and Neurosurgery in 1977 and started the Oregon Veterinary Specialty Hospital (neurology & neurosurgery) working out of Raleigh Hills Veterinary Clinic. In 2006, Dr. Skinner moved OVSP to its own facility in Beaverton. Steve has a deep love of horses. He has been a Strasser hoof care professional since 2003 and run a hoof care rehab clinic at his farm in Sherwood. In July 2016 Steve retired and moved to Hilo, HI where he is now residing. He and his wife, Ann, share life with their granddaughter Elaina, 3 dogs, 1 cat, and 10 chickens.  They love their retirement life in Hawaii. Dr. Skinner was named a Board Emeritus in 2017.
