After receiving his DVM from Washington State University, Dr. Skinner did a one-year internship in medicine and surgery at U.C. Davis in California. He followed that with a three-year residency in human neurology and neurosurgery at Oregon Health Sciences University medical school in Portland. From 1973 to 1975, Dr. Skinner served as the first staff doctor at DoveLewis. He left DoveLewis for general practice until 1977, when he started the Oregon Veterinary Specialty Hospital (neurology & neurosurgery) working out of Raleigh Hills Veterinary Clinic. In 2006, Dr. Skinner moved OVSP to its own facility in Beaverton. Steve has a deep love of horses. He has been a Strasser hoof care professional since the 1970s, and runs a hoof care rehab clinic at his farm in Sherwood. He and his wife, Ann, share their life with 2 dogs, 3 cats, 12 chickens and 10 horses.
