PORTLAND, Ore. – On Saturday, Sept. 29, hundreds of dogs and their humans will gather for the 24th annual Dogtoberfest, Portland’s biggest dog wash, in support of the DoveLewis Blood Bank.
Hundreds of Westies (West Highland Terriers), along with other canine friends and their humans, will participate in a 1.5-mile walk through Northwest Portland to benefit the DoveLewis Velvet Assistance Fund for low-income families.
As Portland continues to grow “up” with the addition of numerous high-rise apartment buildings, local pets are at a greater risk of suffering from high-rise syndrome, especially during the hotter days of summer. High-rise syndrome commonly refers to cats and dogs falling from a two-story surface or higher.
