What does our veterinary dermatology service do?

What sets our veterinary dermatology service apart?

Our dermatology service is dedicated to diagnosing and treating your pet with diseases and conditions of the skin which includes fur (hair), nails, and ears. Our service is unique because we place a large emphasis on ears and use video otoscopy in 4K imaging to diagnose and treat your pet. Of course, we treat more than ears. We specialize in autoimmune diseases, allergies, skin and ear conditions, and infections. We work interchangeably with our neurology department and work closely with our other departments at DoveLewis to provide the care your pet needs. Also, we provide CT and MRI diagnostic scans for your pet as part of dermatology and neurology services.

What conditions do you treat?

  • Itching
  • Hair loss
  • Food and environmental allergies
  • Infections of the skin and nails including bacterial, yeast, and fungal (ringworm)
  • Infections of the ear including the middle and inner ear
  • Auto-immune diseases of the skin and nails
  • External Parasites
  • Inherited skin diseases
  • Ear polyp removals
  • Perianal and perivulvar diseases
  • Hormonal diseases associated with the skin

Our dermatologist works with our emergency team, specialists, and your general practitioner to support a wide-range of conditions. Speak with your general practitioner about your pet’s condition to see if a dermatologist could help.

Do I need a referral for my pet?

No. We accept client-made appointments. Once you have requested an appointment, we will contact your general practitioner for your pet’s medical records, so please speak with your general practitioner before requesting an appointment.
