DoveLewis Celebrates Completion of the $7 Million Whiskers Campaign

DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital announced the successful completion of its $7 million Whiskers Campaign, a philanthropic effort that has expanded access to specialty and emergency veterinary care for animals and families throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Made possible by the generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations, the campaign provided critical funding to equip Whiskers, DoveLewis’ new specialty care facility, with advanced medical technology, complete state-of-the-art clinical spaces, and establish the Velvet Assistance Endowment to help families facing financial hardship access emergency veterinary care.

Since Whiskers opened in February 2025 across the street from DoveLewis’ NW Pettygrove hospital, the impact has been significant. DoveLewis, which treats approximately 30,000 patients annually, has doubled the number of pets receiving specialty care, expanded services including oncology and rehabilitation, and reduced emergency room triage times by more than half. The additional capacity means thousands more animals can access specialized diagnostics, advanced treatments, and emergency care.

“The completion of the Whiskers Campaign is a powerful example of what our community can accomplish together,” said Ron Morgan, President and CEO of DoveLewis. “Our donors invested in a stronger future for veterinary care, one where DoveLewis can serve more pets, support more families, and continue advancing the level of care available across our region for generations to come.”

The campaign builds on an extraordinary philanthropic investment in veterinary medicine. An anonymous donor funded construction of the $70 million Whiskers facility, while the additional $7 million raised through the Whiskers Campaign provided the resources needed to equip and complete the hospital as a comprehensive center for advanced veterinary medicine and compassionate care.

The campaign also established the Velvet Assistance Endowment, creating long-term charitable support that helps reduce financial barriers to emergency exams and treatment for pets from low-income families.

Today, DoveLewis is one of the largest veterinary hospitals in the United States outside of academia, caring for more patients than ever through expanded specialty services, emergency medicine, and charity care programs.

The completion of the Whiskers Campaign marks an important milestone for DoveLewis and the communities it serves. By expanding access to specialty medicine, investing in advanced technology, and creating lasting charitable support, the campaign has positioned the organization to meet the growing demand for veterinary care while ensuring more animals receive lifesaving treatment for years to come.
