Jordan McKinney

Dr. Jordan McKinney first became interested in emergency medicine after an injury to her own pet led to a job as a technician in a busy ER hospital. She has been a veterinarian at DoveLewis since 2014 and was initially drawn to the hospital because of its commitment to giving back to the community while providing exceptional emergency and critical care.

During her time at DoveLewis, Dr. McKinney developed a passion for helping animals regain strength, mobility, and quality of life and helped establish our rehabilitation service. She is now a Certified Companion Animal Therapist (CCAT), reflecting her specialized training in veterinary rehabilitation and physical therapy.

A strong advocate for her patients, Dr. McKinney works closely with families to help them understand their pet’s condition and make informed, loving choices about their care. She especially enjoys cuddling the affectionate and calming the anxious, earning her the nickname “the Chihuahua whisperer.”

Outside of work, Dr. McKinney loves anything outdoors, including long, rugged backpacking trips, mountain biking, trail running, and taking her four dogs places where they can be wild and free. When at home, she enjoys yoga, playing guitar, and reading.
