Hannah: A Pet Loss Poem

The following pet loss story was sent to DoveLewis Pet Loss Support Director Enid Traisman from Ali White. Please feel free to submit your own pet loss story here.

Today, January 15 marks a long somber year,
I’ve been without you and cried so many tears.

I try to think of happier
days,
Oh how I wish you could have stayed.

My heart is broken,
There are still so many words to be spoken.

My little Hannah friend,
You are the most amazing blend!
Dog, daughter and little bird,
Tom boy and princess my little fur!

So many times I’ve felt you near,
Your special visits have softened my fears and lessened my tears.

All the beautiful dragonfly visits
They’re colors so vivid,
I knew it was you saying hello,
My face, heart and soul felt all a glow!

My sweet Hannah bird you have given me signs,
So so many, so divine!

Feathers tumbling in the breeze,
Tumble for tumble with paw prints with ease.

You are always with me,
Tho not the way I wish you could be.
I’m learning the lessons of love lossed and how to cope,
Each day you give me bit more hope.

I miss you so very, very much,
Oh how I long for just one more touch.

I will see you again someday,
And we shall snuggle and cuddle and
play, play, play!

For now my littlest sweet, I hold you tight within my heart,
For now my littlest tweet, we are apart.
