Katharine (Kali) Wilson
Dr. Katharine (Kali) Wilson grew-up on a ranch surrounded by cows, horses, dogs, cats and a few other four footed friends. Dr. Wilson knew from a very young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. She had the added advantage of a grandfather and great uncle who were large animal veterinarians and would take every opportunity to accompany them on calls.
After completing her undergraduate studies at Colorado State, in Animal Science and Agricultural Economics, Dr. Wilson returned to Oregon. She attended the cooperative veterinary program at the Oregon State Veterinary Teaching Hospital and the Washington State Veterinary Hospital. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from both programs in 1994. Dr. Wilson has been practicing small animal medicine in the Portland metro area ever since.
Like many in our veterinary community Dove Lewis has been a big force in her professional career. While she was in vet school she spent a summer working at Dove and then once she graduated she did relief shifts for several years. When Dr. Wilson served on the PVMA board she became the first PVMA liaison to the DLEC Board.
When Dr. Wilson finished her term as PVMA president in 2001 she focused her attention on being the managing DVM for Forest Heights Veterinary Clinic. During that time her interactions with Dove Lewis have been that of a referring Doctor. Dr. Wilson has always considered Dove Lewis to be a great asset to our community in many ways. The first being the availability of excellent care for my patients when my clinic is unavailable and the second being the many community programs Dove provides.
Dr. Wilson is currently enjoying dividing her time between a general practice and an end of life house call practice. She shares her home with 2 Border Terriers, a Boston Terrier and a Siamese mix named Molly. She loves to play Flyball with the Terriers. The older 2 have earned Advanced Trick Dog titles (still working on the younger one). She also enjoys giving back to her community in other ways. She is currently serving on the Steens Mountain Advisory Committee. Other past times include, dancing, gardening, cross stitching, mountain biking and running.
